Les Potts 4 Wheel Drive Ltd has become the first in the UK to order the new Land Rover dealer standard Diagnostic platform from SPX. The CF-19 MK3 Panasonic Toughbook Laptop is the cutting edge in Land Rover diagnostics running the ‘state of the art’ SDD Symptom Driven Diagnostic system.
SDD is at the cutting edge of vehicle diagnostics and gives Les Potts 4 Wheel Drive the same Land Rover diagnostic system as all Land Rover main dealers.
The Land Rover Symptom Driven Diagnostic (SDD) is being introduced to improve diagnostic capability. SDD represents a leap forward in diagnostic technology for current vehicles, combining the ease of use and familiarity of previous diagnostic systems with enhanced, up to date software.
SDD has replaced the previous diagnostic system IDS (integrated diagnostic system), although IDS may still be used to perform diagnostic routines on earlier vehicles.
The reason for changing from IDS (integrated diagnostic system) to SDD (symptom driven diagnostics) is that the systems on the vehicle have become more complicated. The IDS core architecture dates from 2005 whereas vehicle technology and variants have grown. Current vehicle systems support up to 4,000 different ‘trouble’ codes which increased the complexity of diagnostics, we now need to diagnose systems, not individual components. In 2004, when the IDS diagnostic system was launched, there were 2 vehicles supported with an average of 3 modules per vehicle. In 2010 there are 9 vehicles supported with an average of 40 modules per vehicle. In 2012 there will be in excess of 90 modules per vehicle supported.
The CF-19 is powered by Intel Core i5-540UM and replaces our aging CF-18 MK1 Toughbook, which we purchased from SPX in 2006. This is another first for Les Potts 4 Wheel Drive Ltd we have consistently purchased new innovations from Land Rover, however to be the first ahead of all the UK Land Rover dealers shows our commitment to our Land Rover customers to ensure we are at the cutting edge of diagnostics and right first time fix. Land Rover decided on the Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 which is renowned for its robustness and is used around the world in the most demanding situations.

We are proud to announce that all key staff have completed a 2 Day LR533 - Evoque Introduction course at the Land Rover Technical Academy 1 Bird Road, Leamington, Warwickshire, CV34 6TB. This exciting new vehicle introduces a variety of new technologies never seen before on the Range Rover brand. Over the two day period the focus was on these new technologies and highlighted changes and updates to the existing systems.
The outstanding 211PS 3.0 LR-TDV6 diesel remains the entry level choice for Discovery 4 customers in European markets conforming to EU5 emissions regulations. For 2012, the engine has been further improved with a reduction in CO2 emissions from 244g/km to 224g/km thanks to a low-flow fuel injection system and a new, highly efficient, ZF 8HP70, 8-speed automatic transmission.
